Welcome to the Amberley Marine Web Site, we have tried to make it as straight forward as possible for you to locate what you need.

Our programmes are in the main heavy weight marine training, they are not  designed to be 'entertainment' as such. Although we do try to make them as  watchable as possible. We hope and expect that you will want to view them many times and  refer back time and time again. They are chapterised to make this as convenient as possible.

We do not 'pad' our programmes out, or seed them with overt or covert  advertising, if we are using a product to demonstrate something it is because it  does its particular job well and we would be happy to use it on our own  boats - in fact we probably do.  We enjoy a good working relationship with many manufacturers and teaching establishments who  very kindly lend us equipment, facilities and sometimes boats for particular programmes. If  we have been loaned equipment or provided with  material help, the company, organisation, or individual,  will  be mentioned in the  credits.

We  use the very best writers and technical experts both in front of and behind the cameras. Our programmes always follow the best advice available from the  RYA, RNLI, Coastguard etc. Our training programmes are used by professionals in the UK and elsewhere in the world, both as  training aids and as lecture support. Our Radar Plotting Pads are used by commercial shipping, coastguards and shore based Radar establishments around the world.

When you are using one of our products you are in good company.

Frequently Asked Questions

1...{Q}What will your CDROM run on

{A}These are computer discs that will generally run on any full multimedia computer built after year 2000 worldwide. They are not DVDs or Video CDs. They are made to play on a computer equipped with a normal CD drive. They include all the play software they need to work already installed on the disc. They will not install themselves onto your hard disc, they are programmed to run from the CD. The Astro CDROM is slightly different but generally will not need any outside help as long as you are using Windows 98 onwards.

2...{Q} The chapters do not work correctly on my CDROM

{A}You must set the screen resolution of your computer to 800 x 600 pixels. If you do not the hot spots {chapter heading highlights} will be offset to one side and difficult to select. This does not apply to the Astro CD.

3...{Q}Where and on what equipment will your DVD’s work.

{A}Our DVD’s are PAL DVD and will generally run with no problems on any computer or PAL DVD player and television. They  do not contain an region identifier flag. In other words they should play on any DVD player as long as it is PAL compatible anywhere in the world.

4...{Q} What computer operating system will your CDROM’s and DVD’s run on.

{A} They have been checked and are known to work on windows 98, 2000, XP and Vista.

5...{Q} Where do I find the questions and answers on Astro CD and DVD and Understanding Navigation CD and DVD.

{A} Put the CD or DVD into a computer CD/DVD drive look in the root directory of the CD/DVD for the Questions and Answers folders, double click on them and then print them out in the normal way.

6...{Q} My DVD disc plays OK on a DVD player connected to a Television, but does not play or does not play correctly on a computer.

{A} Windows Media Player normally shipped with Windows XP does not recognise chapters and is unsuitable for playing training programmes. Dell media player is also easily confused.  The best software we have found for playing DVDs’ such as ours, with multiple chapters - on a windows computer, is Power DVD from Cyberlink.com. WinDVD is another good one.
